Schedule your New Hampshire DMV appointment online at apps.nh.gov/dsmv/scheduler. Since November 2025, DMV service has been appointment-based. Limited same-day appointment blocks may be available, but arriving without an appointment does not guarantee service.
| Situation | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Advance appointment | Book a date and time through the DMV scheduler before you go. |
| Same-day appointment | Limited same-day blocks may be available. Check the scheduler or ask DMV staff about current availability. |
| Arriving without an appointment | Staff may help you find an available appointment, but do not rely on normal walk-in service. |
Use the same DMV appointment system used to book the visit. If your confirmation gives you a manage or reschedule option, change the booking there. If it does not, call DMV at (603) 227-4000 before making a second appointment.
Cancel through the appointment-management option in your confirmation when available. If you cannot access the booking, contact DMV so the slot can be released instead of simply not showing up.
Check other DMV locations in the scheduler and look again for cancellations or limited same-day appointment blocks. Do not rely on arriving without a booking and expecting normal walk-in service.
Bring the driver-license application and the identity, residency, and age documents that apply to you. Applicants under 18 may also need parental authorization, driver-education records, and the supervised-driving log.
For the full checklist, use the Required Documents and Application Form guides. Knowledge-test format, passing score, fees, and detailed office-hour questions are covered on their dedicated pages.
Office hours, testing capacity, and appointment availability can differ by location. Check the current DMV scheduler for your office and arrive early enough to complete check-in before your booked time.
Appointments vs. walk-ins: New Hampshire DMV uses an appointment-based system. Limited same-day appointments may be available, but a person who arrives without one should expect to be helped with scheduling rather than normal walk-in testing.
Do not assume the office can hold the slot. Late service depends on the office's remaining capacity, so use the appointment system or contact DMV if you know you will miss your booked time.
Do you need separate appointments for the knowledge test and road test? If a road skills test is required, it is scheduled as its own road-test appointment. Passing the knowledge test does not mean the road test will automatically happen during the same visit.
"The AI mock tests were surprisingly realistic. The explanations for road signs helped me understand the logic, not just memorize. Passed my permit test on the first try!"

"I was struggling with the specific road rules of my state until I used Shoro. The flashcards are a game changer for quick revision before the actual exam."

"The readiness score gives you so much confidence. I knew exactly when I was ready to take the test. Highly recommend Shoro for anyone nervous about their exam."
