Mississippi Mobile ID and Learner's Permits: What the App Supports

Mississippi Mobile ID does not currently list learner's permits as eligible credentials.

Does Mississippi Mobile ID support a learner's permit?

No. Current Mississippi Mobile ID eligibility requires an eligible Mississippi driver license or state-issued photo ID card. The official Mobile ID materials do not list a learner's permit as an eligible credential.

Learner-permit holders should continue using the physical permit issued through the Driver Service Bureau. The Mobile ID FAQ explains the credentials the app currently supports.

Mississippi Mobile ID Enrollment Eligibility

Current official Mobile ID guidance does not provide a learner-permit enrollment path. Do not scan or enroll a learner's permit expecting it to become a valid Mobile ID credential.

If you later hold an eligible Mississippi driver license or state-issued photo ID card, follow the official Mobile ID setup instructions for that supported credential.

Physical Permit Requirements When Using Mobile ID

No. Because learner's permits are not currently listed as supported Mobile ID credentials, permit holders should carry the physical permit required for driving and should not rely on Mobile ID as a learner-permit credential at traffic stops or TSA checkpoints. Mississippi's official Mobile ID FAQ also says a physical driver license is required at TSA checkpoints.

Is a photo or screenshot of my Mississippi learner's permit valid while driving?

No official Mississippi guidance treats a phone photo or screenshot as a learner's permit credential. Mobile ID itself does not list learner's permits as eligible credentials, so carry the physical permit or other official temporary permit document issued by DSB rather than relying on an image on your phone.

Can I add a Mississippi learner's permit to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet?

Mississippi DSB does not list learner's permits as eligible Mobile ID credentials. Do not rely on Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, or another phone wallet as a substitute for the physical learner's permit unless DSB later adds official learner-permit support.

Mobile ID Fees and Learner-Permit Card Corrections

Mobile ID does not create a separate digital learner-permit fee because learner's permits are not currently listed as supported Mobile ID credentials.

Use the dedicated Mississippi permit-fee page for current learner-permit and duplicate costs, and the permit-errors page for photo, printing, or credential corrections.
