BC ICBC Knowledge Test Hours: Office Cutoffs, Holiday Closures and Best Times to Visit

Appointments are required for in-person BC knowledge tests at ICBC driver licensing locations. The Class 5/7 knowledge test is also available online without a knowledge-test appointment.

What Are BC ICBC Driver Licensing Office Hours and When Does Testing End?

Knowledge-test service hours and cutoffs depend on the location. Use ICBC's location information for the office or service centre you plan to visit rather than assuming every site follows the same schedule.

Location type matters: ICBC-operated driver licensing offices, Service BC centres, and driver licensing agents can have different hours and available services. Check the specific location before travelling.

Walk-ins are not accepted for knowledge tests. If you want an in-person knowledge test, book the required appointment. The online Class 5/7 knowledge test does not require a knowledge-test appointment.

When Is the Best Time to Visit an ICBC Office for a BC Knowledge Test?

If you are taking the knowledge test in person, the best practical time is the appointment you can reliably attend within that location's service hours. Arrive according to the instructions for your booking and allow enough time for check-in.

For finding open appointments, cancellations, or a different location, use the dedicated Appointment Scheduling guide. Those booking tactics belong there rather than in the office-hours article.

Are BC ICBC Driver Licensing Offices Open on Weekends or Holidays?

Can you take the Class 7L test on weekends? Generally, no. Most ICBC driver licensing offices are closed on weekends.

• The Saturday Exception: A few high-volume locations like Vancouver (Royal Centre) may offer Saturday hours (8:30 AM–4:30 PM).
• Services are limited, overcrowding is extreme, and appointments book weeks ahead.
• Any knowledge-test service cutoff still depends on the location and appointment availability.

Are ICBC offices open on holidays? No.

• ? Straight From the ICBC: Do not confuse private Autoplan brokers (which may be open for insurance) with government licensing offices (which are closed). You cannot take a knowledge test at a broker.
• Before travelling: Confirm the location's holiday schedule and the service you need. Knowledge tests are not available as walk-ins.

How Do You Avoid Knowledge-Test Cutoff and Arrival Problems at ICBC?

There is no walk-in option for a knowledge test. Book an in-person knowledge-test appointment, or use ICBC's online Class 5/7 knowledge test if that option works for you.

• Before you go: Confirm the specific location's hours and the service you booked.
• Documents: Bring the original identification required for your transaction. The full checklist is in the dedicated Required Documents guide.
• Booking changes: Use the Appointment Scheduling guide for open slots, cancellations, and rescheduling.

Latest Time to Take an ICBC Knowledge Test Before Closing

Which ICBC office should you check if your nearest location has limited knowledge-test hours? Compare nearby driver licensing locations in ICBC's locator and choose one that offers the service and appointment time you need.

Do ICBC Driver Licensing Office Hours Change During Christmas or Other Holiday Periods?

Holiday schedules can differ from normal weekly hours. Check the specific location before travelling, especially around statutory holidays and year-end closures.
