A Memphis student missed 5 questions early on but answered the next 19 correctly, passing with 25/30. In Knoxville, someone missed their 6th question at number 22 - had to answer the final 8 perfectly to hit 24 correct. Don't mentally quit after early misses.
After the online test, click “Show Test Receipt” and print the receipt. Tennessee also emails the test result to the registered account. Keep the receipt or confirmation for the in-person Driver Services step. Official source: https://www.tn.gov/content/tn/safety/driver-services/classd/teengdl/knowledge-test-online.html.
What if your Tennessee passing-test email does not arrive? Use the on-screen test receipt if you still have access to it and keep a printed or saved copy. A missing email by itself does not mean you failed or must automatically retake the test. Administrative rules matter more than test-takers expect:.
Use a hardwired ethernet connection if possible. Wi-Fi drops have voided tests for students who otherwise would have passed. Test the Proctor ID app the night before - not 5 minutes before the exam starts.
Tennessee's Hands-Free Law and Move Over Law appear frequently. First offense for using a handheld device while driving: $50 base fine. Failing to move over for emergency vehicles: $250 to $500. Questions come from road signs, traffic laws, and safe driving practices. The Tennessee Driver Handbook covers everything tested.
Practice tests can help you reach the required 24/30 score consistently. Keep detailed source recommendations and study plans on the dedicated Practice Tests page.
Some in-person testing kiosks may let you skip questions and return to them, depending on location and software version. The online test doesn't offer this - you answer each question in order. Don't count on skipping; practice answering in sequence.
"The AI mock tests were surprisingly realistic. The explanations for road signs helped me understand the logic, not just memorize. Passed my permit test on the first try!"
