Rhode Island no longer issues motorcycle permits. A motorcycle M endorsement is added to a valid Rhode Island driver's license after the required CCRI motorcycle safety course. If you already have a current Rhode Island license with an M endorsement, you already hold the underlying driver's license; there is no separate motorcycle-permit path that replaces or runs alongside a car permit.
If you have a current Rhode Island driver's license with an M endorsement, you already have the base Rhode Island driver's license. You do not start a separate Class D learner-permit process simply because you also ride a motorcycle.
Rhode Island DMV adds an M endorsement to a valid RI license after the required CCRI motorcycle safety course. Motorcycle permits are no longer issued.
No. Rhode Island DMV says to bring the CCRI motorcycle safety certificate and a valid Rhode Island license to add the M endorsement. Motorcycle permits are no longer issued.
An unlicensed applicant still follows the normal Rhode Island driver licensing process for the base license. Keep the car-permit, road-test and first-license details on the dedicated Road Test & License guide. The current first-license fee for an applicant age 18+ is $44.50.
If that separate road-test process is failed, the minimum waits are 30 days after the first failure, 90 days after the second, and 180 days after the third or subsequent failure.
No. The motorcycle safety course is used to add an M endorsement to a valid Rhode Island driver's license. If you do not yet have the base driver's license, you still follow the ordinary learner-permit and road-test process for that license.
No separate shortcut is published for motorcycle endorsement holders. If you are applying for your first base driver's license, the normal learner-permit holding period and road-test rules apply.
No current Rhode Island motorcycle permit is issued. The DMV now places the M motorcycle endorsement on a valid Rhode Island driver's license.

| M motorcycle endorsement | Added to a valid RI license after the required CCRI motorcycle safety course; no motorcycle permit is issued. |
The motorcycle endorsement adds motorcycle operating privileges to the existing license. It does not create a separate permit track. If you are still working toward your first base driver's license, follow the normal permit and road-test process for that license.
Rhode Island says an out-of-state motorcycle endorsement transfers to the Rhode Island license. Point out the motorcycle endorsement when you complete the out-of-state license transfer so the equivalent endorsement can be carried onto the Rhode Island credential.

"The AI mock tests were surprisingly realistic. The explanations for road signs helped me understand the logic, not just memorize. Passed my permit test on the first try!"
