It depends on your age and driver education provider. A teen who completes Rhode Island driver education through CCRI takes the DMV knowledge test as the course final. Applicants under 18 who completed an approved course outside CCRI must take the computerized knowledge exam at Cranston before the permit is issued. Applicants 18+ also take the DMV computerized exam before permit issuance.
