After getting a Nebraska Learner's Permit, the next step depends on your age and licensing path. Teens working toward a Provisional Operator's Permit (POP) generally have a six-month holding period. Adults 18 and older can follow the Class O testing path without that teen POP waiting period.
Teen applicants using the POP path must complete the required permit period before moving forward. During that time, focus on supervised practice or your approved Driver Safety Course pathway and keep any required records current. The dedicated Waiting Period — Road Test page owns the six-month calculation, points lookback and pathway-specific eligibility rules.
While practicing with an LPD, a qualifying licensed operator age 21 or older must be seated beside you when you drive on Nebraska highways. Keep this section as a quick reminder; the detailed rules belong in the dedicated driving-restrictions and supervisor pages.
See the Nebraska driving-restrictions guide and the supervising-driver requirements for the full rules.
Use your practice time to build safe control, observation, lane-change, intersection and parking skills. The exact practice plan belongs in the dedicated behind-the-wheel training guide.
If you are using the 50-hour route, keep your practice record accurate and make sure the certification is complete before applying for the POP.
Once the applicable age, permit-period and pathway requirements are satisfied, move to the POP or adult Class O process that applies to you. Use the dedicated waiting-period and road-test guides for eligibility timing, testing requirements and application details rather than repeating them here.
"The AI mock tests were surprisingly realistic. The explanations for road signs helped me understand the logic, not just memorize. Passed my permit test on the first try!"
