What Documents Do You Need for the Missouri Road Test?

At the MSHP road test, bring the documents needed to establish that you may test and that the vehicle may legally be used.

Valid Missouri Instruction Permit: Bring your unexpired permit. If the permit has Restriction A (corrective lenses), wear the required lenses.
Current vehicle registration/license plate information: The test vehicle must be legally registered.
Proof of financial responsibility: Bring acceptable proof for the vehicle.

Do Teen Drivers Need Extra Forms at the Missouri Road Test?

Teen applicants have additional GDL steps after the skills test, but MSHP does not require a separate package of mandatory teen forms before administering the road test.

Do I need Form 4901 at the Missouri road test?

No. Form 4901 is an optional practice-hours tracking form, not a mandatory MSHP test-day document. For an under-18 applicant, the required practice hours are verified during the later DOR licensing step.

Does my parent need to come to the Missouri road test?

Not simply because the applicant is a teen. If the permit holder drives to the station, the normal instruction-permit supervision rules apply. The parent, legal guardian or grandparent is needed later at the DOR licensing step to verify the required practice hours for the under-18 GDL pathway.

Can someone other than my parent drive me to the road test?

Yes. MSHP says any licensed person may accompany the teen when the teen is not the one driving to the examination station. If the permit holder drives there, the accompanying driver must satisfy the permit's normal supervision rules.

Do Missouri Examiners Actually Check Your 40 Practice Hours?

No. MSHP administers the skills test; the under-18 practice-hour requirement is verified later during the DOR licensing step.

Vehicle check: The test vehicle must satisfy MSHP's pre-test safety and current registration/financial-responsibility requirements. For the equipment checklist and vehicle-condition rules, use the dedicated Vehicle Requirements page.

What Are Common Document Errors at Missouri Road Tests?

Common test-day document problems include an expired permit, missing or outdated vehicle registration, and missing proof of financial responsibility. If corrective lenses are required under Restriction A, wear them for the test.

For under-18 applicants, do not confuse the MSHP test-day documents with the later DOR requirement to verify the 40 supervised practice hours.

What Happens at DOR After You Pass the Missouri Road Test?

MSHP examiners do not collect the license fee. After you pass, take the completed Form 100 to a Missouri license office. DOR completes the licensing transaction and provides a temporary paper credential; the permanent card is produced centrally and mailed.

License Type	Current Total Fee
Intermediate Class F	$14
Class F license, up to 3 years	$16.50
Class F license, up to 6 years	$33

What do I take to DOR after passing the Missouri road test?

Take the completed Driver Examination Record (Form 100) and the documents DOR requires for your licensing transaction. Under-18 GDL applicants also complete the required practice-hour verification at the license office.

Do I pay the license fee at MSHP or DOR?

At DOR. MSHP administers the noncommercial skills test and does not collect the license-issuance fee. After passing, the applicant completes payment and licensing at a Missouri DOR license office
