Mississippi Permit Test Locations: Driver Service Bureau Only

Mississippi drivers must take their learner's permit knowledge test at official Driver Service Bureau offices. These state-run locations are the only authorized testing centers for permit exams.

Where do you take the Mississippi learner's permit test?

All permit tests happen at Driver Service Bureau offices across Mississippi. Applicants searching for the nearest Mississippi permit testing location or asking 'where do I take the Mississippi learner's permit test' should use the official DSB location information to confirm that the selected office handles learner-permit/knowledge-testing services. Jackson, Gulfport, Tupelo, and Biloxi host major testing centers.

• Use the official DPS location finder to locate your nearest office
• The Driver Service Bureau highly recommends making an appointment before the visit
• New appointment slots typically release at 8:00 AM daily
• Check neighboring counties like Rankin or Madison for faster availability if your home county is booked

Walk-ins face significantly longer waits and risk being turned away after 4:00 PM testing cutoff. Appointments are strongly recommended during peak testing periods.

Do all Mississippi Driver Service Bureau offices offer learner's permit testing?

No. Some DSB locations provide limited services, so confirm that the office handles learner-permit knowledge testing before traveling.

How do I check whether a Mississippi DPS office gives permit knowledge tests?

Use the current Driver Service Bureau location information and verify the services listed for the office you plan to visit. If the listing is unclear, confirm the available testing service with DSB before traveling.

No Online Testing: Why Mississippi Requires In-Person Permit Exams

Mississippi does not offer remote or online permit testing from home. All knowledge exams must be completed in person at Driver Service Bureau locations.

• No webcam-proctored or at-home testing options exist
• Tests run on touchscreen kiosks using 30 multiple-choice questions
• Pass rate requires 24 correct answers (80% score)
• Audio tests available through headphones upon request

Paper tests are reserved exclusively for individuals with documented ADA disabilities requiring advance approval. Study the Mississippi Driver's Manual PDF before testing.

• Knowledge test: Verify the office provides the learner-permit testing service you need.
• Documents: Use the dedicated Required Documents page for the current application, identity, residency and school-attendance checklist.
