The Kentucky permit test has no official time limit, but strict break rules apply. Once you sit down, you cannot pause or leave the testing station until you finish. You cannot take breaks once the test begins; leaving the testing area results in an automatic failure.
The practical limit is the KSP testing site's operating schedule, so start early enough to finish within the site's testing session.
For current location hours, arrival guidance, and cutoff practices, use the dedicated Kentucky office-hours guide rather than assuming every site follows the same closing schedule.
Kentucky does not publish an official statewide average completion time. The 20-to-30-minute estimate on this page is only a planning estimate; your actual time can vary by reading pace and question difficulty.
There is no published fixed countdown timer, but that does not mean the test can continue indefinitely. You still have to complete it within the testing site's operating session and instructions.
Breaks are not permitted once the exam begins. You must stay at the kiosk. Leaving the testing area for any reason - including restroom use - ends your session and counts as a failure. If needed, use the restroom after the vision screening but before you are seated for the knowledge test.
Standard test timing and disability accommodations are separate issues. If you need an oral test or another testing accommodation, contact KSP when scheduling so the testing location can explain the available setup.
See the dedicated Kentucky Disability Accommodations guide for accessibility-specific procedures.
Contact KSP before the appointment to discuss the support you need. This page covers the normal timing rules; see the Disability Accommodations guide for the full accommodation process.

"The AI mock tests were surprisingly realistic. The explanations for road signs helped me understand the logic, not just memorize. Passed my permit test on the first try!"
