Passing the Quebec SAAQ knowledge test requires 75% on every section independently. One failed section invalidates all sections - you cannot average across them. The test uses a section-based grading system, and failing even one part means you fail the entire exam.
The Quebec learner's permit test has a strict scoring method. You must pass all three sections independently with a 75% score. The margin for error is small.
| Test Section | Number of Questions | Correct Answers Needed to Pass | Passing Percentage | Maximum Questions You Can Miss |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Highway Safety Code | 16 | 12 | 75% | 4 |
| Road Signs & Traffic Signals | 16 | 12 | 75% | 4 |
| Driving Behaviours & Techniques | 32 | 24 | 75% | 8 |
Does exactly 75% count as a passing score on the Quebec SAAQ knowledge test? Yes. A score of exactly 75% passes that section: 12/16 for Highway Safety Code, 12/16 for Road Signs & Traffic Signals, and 24/32 for Driving Behaviours & Techniques. Each section must reach 75% on its own.
You answer all 64 questions, and each of the three sections is scored separately. You cannot use a high score in one section to offset a failed section.
Visit the Quebec learner's permit guide for step-by-step rules.
There is no difference in the passing score by test type for the standard Class 5 passenger vehicle learner's permit test.
If you fail one or more sections, only the failed sections are retaken after at least 28 days. See the failed-test and retake guide for the full process.
"The AI mock tests were surprisingly realistic. The explanations for road signs helped me understand the logic, not just memorize. Passed my permit test on the first try!"
