Bring your current valid driver's licence and your road-test booking information. The vehicle must also be legally registered, insured and roadworthy, but DriveTest does not describe the vehicle permit and insurance slip as a universal three-document handover to the examiner.
The core check-in item is your current valid driver's licence, along with the road-test booking information. The vehicle itself must be legally registered, insured and roadworthy.
| Category | What to have ready |
|---|---|
| Must bring | Current valid driver's licence; road-test confirmation/booking details; corrective lenses if your licence requires them. |
| Vehicle must meet | Valid registration, insurance and roadworthy condition. |
| Useful backup | Insurance/vehicle information and payment confirmation in case a question arises. |
BDE completion is recorded electronically by the approved driving school. For the full G road test, the applicant may need to make the required highway-driving declaration. If a G1 holder needs an accompanying driver to get to the centre, that person must be fully licensed to drive the vehicle and meet Ontario's experience requirements; the rule is not limited to a Class G licence only.
The supervising driver does not ride with you during the road test. If you still need that person to drive legally to or from the centre, plan for them to remain available until the test is finished.
If you arrive without an item DriveTest requires for your test, you may have to reschedule. When the test is declared out-of-order, the standard fee rule is that 50% of the prepaid road-test fee is lost and the remaining 50% stays as credit.
Vehicle defects and detailed pre-test mechanical requirements belong in the Vehicle Requirements — Road Test guide.
If a required check-in item is missing and DriveTest cannot start the appointment, you may need to reschedule. This section is about missing documents or check-in items; vehicle defects and general out-of-order rules belong in the Vehicle Requirements — Road Test guide.
Yes, if the temporary Ontario driver licence is current and valid for the class you need for the test. Bring it with any accompanying document DriveTest issued with it.
DriveTest asks applicants to bring their road-test confirmation. A printed copy is a simple way to have the booking details ready at check-in.
The test vehicle must be legally insured, but DriveTest does not describe an insurance slip as a universal document that every applicant must hand to the examiner at check-in.
Check your licence and booking details the night before. Make sure the vehicle is legally registered, insured and roadworthy, and bring any corrective lenses required by your licence.
| Must bring | Vehicle must meet | Useful backup |
|---|---|---|
| Current valid G1 or G2 licence, as applicable Road-test booking/confirmation Required corrective lenses | Legally registered Properly insured Roadworthy and suitable for the test | Vehicle/insurance details Payment confirmation Any approved accommodation information |
Do not treat the vehicle permit and insurance slip as a universal three-document handover requirement. The vehicle must still be legally registered and insured.
"The AI mock tests were surprisingly realistic. The explanations for road signs helped me understand the logic, not just memorize. Passed my permit test on the first try!"
